Everything people say about this location is so true!  The portions are ridiculously small (for a franchise, aren't they suppose to adhere to a company portion schedule?)!  DH ordered a salad and a healthy fish entree and he left hungry!

We were in a large party and after numerous requests for garlic bread, the servers didn't even bother to bring the basket over.  How rude!  Yes, I know you don't give a crap since the tips are automatically entered into the bill but please, if your restaurant is going to serve smaller portions than the other Pomodoros, then give people bread so they won't feel ripped off!

Blech, never again.

Pasta Pomodoro, I usually have nothing bad to say about you but you pissed me off today. We were invited to seat ourselves outside which we did and despite trying to get their attention were promptly ignored and passed by by several of your staff.

Teach the children you have working for you some basic customer service.

When our waiter finally came by I ordered my usual steak panino with a side Caesar. The Caesar was about half the size it usually is and the lettuce warm and wilted, whatever, I was really there for the steak sandwich. Little did I know the salad was just foreshadowing the disappointment I was to experience with my sandwich, when that came the entire steak fit onto about half of the sandwich... are you fucking serious?!? I paid $10 for a bunch of bread??

On top of that the lackadaisical service made me late getting back to work.

Thanks for a shitty meal, you cheap slow bastard

I held you up to 4 star status but this experience took you down a couple notches

Went there for Mother's Day, got seated right away and had the best bruschetta,  butternut squash ravioli (with brown sugar and butter sauce)  and fusilli with garlic cream sauce, smoked chicken and pancetta.....  OH not to mention memosas and the first one was on them!!!!   For some reason that one tasted GREAT...   The service was awesome, Greg  treated us like royalty.

Big fan of this place. Food is consistently very good and the service is generally great. Best server is Janel! She's the bomb! Great for dinner or lunch, big family meal or quaint date spot. If you love brussel sprouts or just kinda sorta like them, you have to have the cavolini! You won't regret it!

I have a special place in my heart for the Pasta Pomodoro chain. It's delicious, hearty and it's great for eating and deep conversation. I've come here many a time and stuffed my face with bread and the pesto/olive oil sauce, then gorged on my order of the caprese (I can eat a whole one by myself) and my bolognese (I can eat that all by myself in addition).

I've tried different things, but I stick to my usual. They have a great selection of wines too. And I never leave without a delicious, moist chocolate souffle to sink my teeth into. Mmmm...

I've been to many locations, and the service varies, but it's never been horrible. The atmosphere is always pretty laid back to relax, eat and talk. Usually it's my favorite place to be fat, and feel a little classier about it.

Reasonable prices and I love that you can order half portions for dinner...this makes it perfect, not making you want to stuff your face because you have a big ass plate in front of you. Good pasta, fresh ingredients (I had the shrimp with asparagus pasta in a creamy tomato sauce), the bread was OK, but pesto dipping sauce was good. Staff was sweet and attentive despite being busy on a Friday night. Only downside is that I don't eat pork and most of the pasta dishes had pork or sausage in them.

It's always a pleasant experience everytime I go to Pasta Pomodoro. The service is good, the food is great and well priced.

Their complimentary bread and pesto dressing is something I also look forward to.

I looooooooove their chocolate souffle!!!!!!!!!!! YUM-O! lol
besides the chocolate goodness, I recommend the following:
- gemelli
- chicken parmesan
- insalata

What are you waiting for? It's Pasta Pomodoro time!

I should definitely revisit this review if we ever actually eat in the restaurant, but for now a glimpse of the take out experience will have to suffice.

We were looking for some decent food for take out late (10:30pm or so) on a weekend and this place was close enough to warrant a try. Plus they were still open and the girl on the phone sounded cute.

The Penne Portobello was surprisingly tasty for something in a plastic box, and agreeably priced. They put the wrong sauce on her ravioli, but other than that it was also very good. A simple dinner for two at around ten dollars each. I was duly satisfied and will definitely try them again when the opportunity arises.

Oh and, the hostess was very cute.

Hard to believe PP is a chain!! Their food is delicious and fresh-- full of flavor and different options. The prices really can't be beat for the quality. The service is hit or miss, but I'll put up with that for the great food. My regular fav items are the mista salad and the ravioli's de zucca. YUM

The tortellini with cream and pancetta sauce is awesome here.  The bread with pesto dip that you get at the beginning is awesome, and they serve it to you hot which makes it better.
You can either get lucky with good waiters/waitresses or unlucky with one that's not so great.  And a lot of times, the waiters and waitresses stand by the bar and talk to each other while you're trying to get their attention.  that's definitely annoying.  But the food's really good!

Great place.  It has low prices, decent food -- its hard to mess up Italian, a nice atmosphere but still casual.  the wait staff are nice and friendly -- have recognized us several times and offered us regulars (adults) a free dessert.

They give a free dessert of ice cream for kids menu items so my daugher loves it.  They also have outdoor seating and an open area just outside the restaurant so my daughter can go run around while we eat there.  so good for kids

There is lots of parking just behind the building in the Albertson's lot.  Has a movie theatre, bookstore, coffee shop, and downtown area right by it if you want to wander around afterward

The wait staff is really inattentive ... that is our main problem with the place.  My wife and I have been there three times because of the nearby movie theatre, and she likes the ravioli. To me, the food is OK - not great, just OK. The prices are reasonable, so that's not a problem either.

It just seems as if they hire high school students as wait staff and do not give them proper instruction. Each time we go it seems like they are standing around talking to each other while the customers are constantly trying to get their attention.  And it's not like the place is jamming ... I've never seen it full.  I'm just tired of having to flag down someone each time we want to order, or we want bread, or we want water, or we want the check, or whatever.  They don't need to be waiting on us hand and foot, but checking on us once in a while would be nice.

The food gets three stars, the service one, thus two stars from me.

Wow, I'm surprised at the bad reviews this place has received. I have been there several times since I moved to the East Bay a year and a half ago, and each time I have been pretty impressed with the food, prices, and service I've received, especially compared to the other restaurants around this area (Pleasant Hill/Concord). My experiences have been very consistent. I was just there last week and had a wonderful dinner.

~food~
If any of you go back, I'd recommend trying out their garlic bread to start with - it's so good it could be a meal in itself!! I usually have the whole-grain penne pasta with alfredo sauce (I don't feel that bad eating alfredo sauce when I eat whole grain penne...I know, lame!). This is a lovely dish that hits the spot. The only gripe I have with the food is that they don't offer fresh cheese over your main course dishes. This is a bit out of character for restaurants of the same caliber.

~price~
With drinks and food, I typically spend about $15-20 per meal. A little pricey, I know, but honestly, the garlic bread is worth it!

~ambiance~
I've only been here in the winter (never sat on the patio in the summer), but I like the place. It can be a bit crowded in the waiting area, however, and the restaurant could definitely be expanded to make eating areas a little more comfortable in terms of space. This is why I'm rating this place 4 stars instead of 5.

~service~
We've always had really good service here. The manager has even come by our table to see how we're doing. The servers are busy, but attentive.

I dig this chain.  I frequented the San Ramon location and it was always good.  Nice sitting out on the patio, having one of my favorites: Conchiglie Salsiccia [with Italian sausage, caramelized onions, tomato sauce and pecorino cheese].

Come to think of it I've been to the Novato location too, with the same experience.

So knowing the chain, THIS LOCATION was surprisingly BAD.  The soup: Zuppa e Insalata was horrible and tasted bland.  The food was cold and nothing like my previous experience.  The kids working in there were inattentive and stuck us in a corner when half the restaurant was empty...mental note to self, ask for a different table...

Very Disappointed.

I'd been to the Pasta Pomodoro in the Inner Sunset and remembered it to be very good, so we decided to try this one out.  I guess they raised the prices A LOT, because I was shocked when I look at the menu!  The pasta itself was alright, and the bread was just ok.  The restaurant was busy, so the hostess pointed at a table and told us to sit there.  Now, I may be finicky, but I don't think that is an appropriate way to seat customers.  The waiter wasn't very attentive - the service was the bare minimum.  We ordered two small salads, two pasta dishes, and one drink and the bill was almost $50. For pasta and salad, I'd rather go across the street to Sweet Tomatoes (which is fabulous).

Zero stars.  The food was so bad I almost threw up!  But, its near the century theaters so it made my night a little better.  But overall I don't like this one in Pleasant Hill.  The ones in SF are much better!

Food's not bad, but the service is atrocious. It's an especially bad idea to sit a one of the outside tables. Each time I've done so the wait staff forgets about us entirely for periods of a half-hour or more.

Pasta Pomodoro is probably for pasta only.  The two times I was there I had steak which was thin and tasteless with a large fatty stripe down the middle.

I came again for a King Salmon salad which was cooked like a rare steak.  Crusty and delicious looking on the outside and sashimi on the inside. Uggh.

I figure tomatoey and cheesy pastas are there forte.  I also remember Pasta Pomodoro being better in SF but maybe my tastes have changed overall.  Someone needs to due a taste test of this particular branch vs ones in Oakland, Rockridge, and SF.
